Ooty and surroundings - hills, tea fields, waterfalls, magnificent views (which we mostly didn’t see due to thick fog) - we enjoyed all that and more during 3 great days! The biggest benefit was the climate - for 3 days we could relax from boiling temperatures, wear one t-shirt for whole day without wringing the sweat after 30 minutes and have few good-night-sleeps without the need for air-con or at least a fan!!!
Together with two German tourists, who we met at the train station, queuing for train tickets which we, of course, didn’t get, we took a car and went for a whole day tour to see the views, local villages & people and the tea factory.
Bailkuppe is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in south India. The monks make handicrafts, carpets and incense. You can shop for sweaters, dresses, harems, jewelry - and so we did! :)
Mysore, another busy city, mother town of yoga, place with many breath-taking palaces & temples.
We landed in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, however immediately took night train to Mysore, Karnataka, as Chennai is big, overcrowded and busy city, you can hear rickshas, cars and buses horning, following for us incomprehensible road rules.
I’ve cut my hair!
I’ve just saved couple of quid and I swear, it’s done so professionally, that everyone thought I’ve been to hair dresser’s.
And except to economize my pennies, there is one other positive:
I’ve decided to donate my cut hair to Cancer Research, where someone will make a wig of it for ill children.

Time is running, travel to India is fast approaching. And I’m getting really excited about the whole thing.
This is the deal! Nice, hey! 9th May, flying (hopefully first class, but not that this would be important… ok, just little:)), landing in Chennai and setting off for an adventure of the century! Passing through stunning beaches, lovely little villages, tea fields, mountains,… sleeping over at breath-taking ashrams together with all the monks (hm, sounds exciting :) ), on Tamil Nadu Water Ways in the boat and anywhere just without the rats, I hope! All the way down to the southeast point of India where three oceans meat and then back up to Chennai, 26th May - isn’t that FABTASTIC!!!!!!
To Be Continued….
Wooden pallets, iron/ wooden stuff found in the attic, pieces of unused fabrics …. Take that all, add bit of imagination, season with great idea and tune up with adroit hands …. voila!
